ORGANIC COTTON

One of the materials widely used for BTMK cut-and-sew items and sweatshirts.

It retains cotton’s original soft touch and moisture absorption. Different yarns, fabric thicknesses and knitting methods can create completely different appearances.

BTMK uses cotton not only for lightweight fabrics, but also heavyweight fabrics with substantial thickness.

The moderate weight of the fabric allows oversized patterns to fall naturally away from the body and form a three-dimensional silhouette.

WHY BTMK USES IT

Natural softness against the skin and everyday wearability.

Its ability to create diverse looks through dyeing and washing processes is another reason BTMK frequently uses cotton.

SUPERIOR PIMA COTTON

Superior Pima Cotton is a premium cotton with longer fibers than standard cotton, delivering a smooth, delicate texture.

Yarn made from long fibers has a neat surface. While still cotton, it offers an exceptionally smooth hand feel and refined surface appearance.

For simple items such as T-shirts worn directly against skin, the difference in fabric itself directly impacts wearing comfort.

For seemingly simple pieces, we choose materials that show their quality through touch and wear rather than relying only on logos and decorations.

COTTON × POLYESTER

A blend combining cotton’s natural hand feel with polyester’s stability.

BTMK uses cotton-dominant blended fabrics for sweatshirts and some cut-and-sew pieces.

Blending polyester adds stiffness and shape retention difficult to achieve with cotton alone.

Even thick fabrics do not become excessively heavy, making it easy to maintain voluminous silhouettes.

WHY BTMK USES IT

BTMK’s wide and three-dimensional patterns require moderate fabric stiffness to look clean.

We use this blend to preserve cotton comfort while stabilizing the silhouette.

04 / NYLON

NYLON

Nylon is lightweight and strong, creating a dry, technical aesthetic different from natural fibers.

BTMK selects nylon fabrics with subdued characteristic shine or natural cotton-like surface texture.

This avoids an overly sportswear look, blending naturally into minimalist styling centered on black.

Lightweight while maintaining volume for wide pants and outerwear, allowing oversized silhouettes to be worn lightly.

A blended material combining cotton’s natural appearance with nylon’s light weight and strength.

It has a more natural look than 100% nylon while creating a technical feel distinct from 100% cotton.

Some versions have matte texture and subtle unevenness, changing how black appears depending on lighting.

Polyester stabilizes fabric shape and resists wrinkles.

08 / STRETCH FIBER

STRETCH FIBER

Elastane fibers such as polyurethane add stretch when blended in small quantities.

BTMK uses it to preserve the intended silhouette while improving mobility during wear.

UNDERSTANDING FABRIC

FABRIC THICKNESS / GSM

Numbers listed on product pages such as "210gsm", "270gsm", "380gsm" indicate fabric weight per square meter.

Generally, higher numbers mean thicker, heavier fabric.

However, fabric texture is not determined by weight alone.

Yarn type, knitting/weaving method, density and finishing greatly change softness, stiffness and drape even at identical weight.

BTMK APPROACH

BTMK does not simply equate thick fabric with better fabric.

We select fabric weight suited to each design, matching silhouette, season, hand feel and drape.

BTMK FINISHING

WASHED FINISH

Many BTMK items undergo washing after sewing.

Rather than a flat uniform new black, this creates natural shading along seams, fabric overlaps and thick sections for the deep, worn-in character of well-loved clothing.

Depending on the product, techniques such as stone washing are selected to match fabric and design.

INDIVIDUAL CHARACTER

Washed items may show slight variations in shading and fading between individual pieces.

This is not a defect, but unique character created by the finishing process.

With repeated wear and washing, the fabric continues to evolve and adapt to the wearer.
